WHAT IS A FORKLIFT OPERATOR?
A forklift operator is an important part of a manufacturing setting. In simplest terms, they move packages and materials around the work facility. Operating a forklift requires the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. So, the individual must be responsible. Typically they must have great verifiable experience driving forklifts. And the goal is to ensure that material and products will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency.
WHAT ARE FORKLIFT OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES?
Forklift operators deal almost exclusively with hard materials and merchandise. And the bulk of their time is spend loading and unloading materials. They must have attention to detail because they are required to locate and report damages.
In addition, they report quantity shortages of products. The forklift machinery must be kept in good condition, scheduling regular maintenance and inspecting for potential problems. The operator must maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.
WHAT ARE THE SKILLS REQUIRED?
Because a forklift is a dangerous piece of equipment, situational awareness is critical. In most cases, a high school diploma or equivalent are required. Past experience is very helpful. However, many companies will certify their employees if they don’t already have current certification. Most individuals should also be in excellent physical condition and have good coordination.
